Arabella "Arja" Salvini

Arja Salvini (no, not a relative).
Freelance Graphic designer by day, Literate and Linguist at heart, Comic Artist and Storyteller the rest of the time. Oh, and 2D/3D artist student!
In love with good stories, vivid colours (but particularly purple), clean lines, characters design and historically-inspired fantasy.
Actually, three seagulls in a trenchcoat.

ILLUSTRATIONS

Digital paintings done in a mix of Clip Studio Paint, traditional sketching and a mix of Photoshop and Affinity Designer for editing. My process follows roughly traditional oil painting, with a coloured underpainting peeking through and textured brushes giving the image more life. I like the painterly effect that a bit of texture can give, more than airbrushes. My formation was in comics, so I'm still very attached to linearts.Works done for personal projects, unless stated otherwise.

CHARACTER DESIGN - Kannon

Scholastic work done for the Character Design module of the Game Art 2D/3D class at Digial Bros Game Academy. The task was designing a figure from Japanese mythology and folklore. My choice ran on Kannon, the Japanese name of the Bhodisattva, or Buddha-to-be, associated with Great Compassion (mahākaruṇā). Known as Avalokiteśvara in India, Guānyīn in China, and Quán Âm in Vietnam. Source 1 - Source 2 - Source 3
